With an impressive week of activities and a unique Afro/Irish heritage, Montserrat was recently named as one of the Top 10 Worldwide St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations by popular search engine HotelsCombined.com.

The Tropical Mansion Suites hotel (www.tropicalmansion.com) in the north of the island was also mentioned in the piece. HotelsCombined.com is rated as one of the world’s leading hotel search engines, with a database of more than 200,000 hotels from 195 countries, and 6.5 million monthly uses.

Famed for being the only country outside of Ireland to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a national holiday, Montserrat’s St. Patrick’s Week of celebrations has been receiving significant international media coverage.  On January 24th, 2010, the Sunday World Dublin and the Miami Herald newspapers both carried articles on Montserrat’s Irish connections and unique St. Patrick’s Week celebrations.

The March 2010 issue of Caribbean Travel and Life Magazine also has a 2-page spread entitled ‘When Irish Eyes are Limin” written by Reagan Johnson who visited Montserrat during St. Patrick’s Week 2009. This year’s week of revelry will take place from March 13-20 and a special ferry schedule from Antigua and discounted fares will be available.
